Sacramental Preparation
The principal religious focus of the 2nd grade is to celebrate and receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. This ministry highlights the wonder for all God's gifts and accepting these gifts with hearts full of thanks. We celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation in gratitude of God's gift of mercy and love. The students first Holy Communion celebrates the gift of Christ's love for us-given with the Holy Spirit, with new life, from the heart of God.
Service Outreach
Our religious heritage teaches gifts, once received, are to be shared. We receive the gifts and we share them through service. A 2nd grade tradition during the sacramental preparation process, is to make baby blankets for those in need. This project builds community in a meaningful and sacred way, promotes the Catholic value of accepting God's precious gifts which we can never reciprocate, yet giving back in ways that reflect God's love for us.
Celebrating the Sacraments
Children participating in the sacraments create their own tile with sacramental symbols. These are installed on a wall next to the church in time for First Eucharist.
